The gift of reading
A 12 year old decided she wanted to give back and chose reading as her way to do it

VOORHEES, N.J. (WPVI) -- A 12 year old in South Jersey decided she wanted to give back and chose reading as her way to do it.

Charlotte Olson and several helpers delivered 13 hundred and 3 books, to be exact, to the Children's Regional Hospital at Cooper.

This is the outpatient office in Voorhees.

Charlotte says she was inspired by the national Reach Out and Read program, and with the help of her mom's post on social media, she had more than 1 thousand books in just a few months.

Even Charlotte was shocked by the donations.

"i was surprised, i have never seen that many books in my life, i'm never going to forget this".

Children's Hospital's Dr. Mophammed J. Hussain says books are a learning tools that are hard to beat.

"10 minutes with a book, is far superior to even an hour or 2 hours of any educational television."

Charlotte also raised more than 2 hundred dollars and gave that to the hospital as well.
