WILMINGTON, Del. (WPVI) -- The Anti-Defamation League Wednesday night honored local law enforcement in the name of the late Beau Biden.

Hundreds of people gathered in Wilmington for the first ADL Beau Biden Shield Awards, and former Vice President Joe Biden was there to honor his son, praise the work of the ADL, and speak out against silence in the face of hate and bias. He also praised the men and women of law enforcement, and their families who support them every time they go to work.

Jim said he was honored to host the event as agencies from the FBI, to the U.S. Attorney's office, Wilmington state and local police, Philadelphia police, the Chester County D.a.'s office and others were recognized for their fight against hate crimes.

Jim also shared some of his observations of the Vice President's work through the years, including how he battled political opponents on the job, but still considered many of them his friends away from Capitol Hill.
