BLOOMINGTON, IND. (WPVI) -- An Indiana man claims he doesn't remember sexually assaulting a girl because he has "sexsomnia."

Police say 18-year-old Andrew Passwaiter fondled a 15-year-old girl during a sleep over at a home in Bloomington earlier this month.

Passwaiter told police he had no memory of the incident because he suffers from the condition where he does not remember sexual encounters.

"He stated that he had been diagnosed but was unable to provide us with any information of a doctor we could follow up with," said Captain Steve Kellams of the Bloomington Police.

Police say Passwaiter told them the doctor who made his diagnosis is now dead.

Passwaiter is charged with sexual battery.
