Researchers are learning more about so-called "superagers."

These are adults over the age of 80 who still seem to be sharp has a tack. Their mental capacity is just as it was when they were 20 years younger.

A small study at Northwestern showed super-agers lost less brain volume than the average senior. Education didn't seem to play to role but gender might, as three out of four of the super-agers were women.

It may be they had larger brains to begin with, but more research is needed.
