April 16: Officials have identified the Rowan University police officer struck and injured Saturday night in Glassboro. (WPVI)

Officials have identified the Rowan University police officer struck and injured Saturday night in Glassboro.

Officer Russell Carmolingo, a 5-year veteran of the Rowan police force, was struck by a passing car while he was making a routine traffic stop on Route 322.

It happened before 10 p.m. Saturday in the 300 block of Mullica Hill Road.

Officials say a police officer was struck by a vehicle in Glassboro, Gloucester County.



A Rowan spokesperson said Carmolingo was treated at Cooper University Hospital for facial cuts and a broken facial bone.

He is expected to make a full recovery.

The driver who struck the officer did stop at the scene and has been cooperating with the investigation.

So far no charges have been filed.
