Prisoners get a new lease on life

HOLMESBURG (WPVI) -- Several Philadelphia prisoners have a new lease on life.

They spent weeks learning to care for shelter dogs and training them to be adopted.

Tuesday the inmates shook hands with Mayor Jim Kenney as they graduated from the program in Holmesburg.

The dogs they trained are now ready to go home with their new families.

Many of the inmates expect to continue working with animals after they are released from prison.
