Cheese may have liver rescue compound
Cheddar, brie, and parmesan contain a compound that could prevent liver cancer

COLLEGE STATION, Texas (WPVI) -- Many people don't eat cheese, fearing the calories will do damage to the waistline.

But a new study shows some types contain a compound called spermidine that could be great for the liver!

Scientists at Texas A&M university say that in mice, the compound stopped damaged liver cells from replicating, and becoming potentially cancerous.

A steady diet of cheese increased life expectancy for the mice by 25 per cent.

Cheddar, brie, and parmesan had the highest levels of spermidine.
