Fire damages twin home in Trenton

TRENTON, N.J. (WPVI) -- Firefighters battled a smoky house fire in Trenton Wednesday morning.

The flames broke out at 9 a.m. inside a twin home in the 900 block of Greenwood Avenue.

Action News is told the fire started in an upstairs room spread to the hallway.

A passerby and others saw the smoke and went inside to help.

They joined residents trying to put the fire out with buckets of water but the smoke and flames continued to spread so everyone evacuated the building.

Firefighters arrived and got the situation under control.

No serious injuries were reported.

Firefighters are working to determine what sparked the blaze.
