Time off for the faithful

CHESTER, Pa. (WPVI) -- Wednesday the Mayor of the City of Chester and city council members presented a proclamation to officially recognize two islamic holidays.

Mayor Thaddeus Kirkland presented the proclamation to recognize Eid al-Fitr, a three day celebration that marks the end of Ramadan, and Eid al-Aha, which commemorates when God appeared to Abraham.

Shakur Abdul-Ali accepted the proclamation on behalf of the City of Chester's Muslim community.
