MEDFORD, N.J. (WPVI) -- Our senior years can be a time for reinvention and we introduce you to one retired teacher turned outdoor adventure leader who is now helping busy professionals find their inner peace.

Patt Osborne founded what she calls Boomer Chick Adventures after 25 years teaching. She wanted to help others as a life coach and spend more time outdoors.

"I'm a lover of the outdoors myself and I know the energy that people get from being outdoors. It's therapeutic, it's healing," she said.

On this day, Patt and her "Boomer Chicks" hike 3 to 4 miles on the trails of Camp Ockanickon in Medford, New Jersey.

The group walks quietly for a while, then Patt directs their attention to what is all around them.

"Look at all this. This is what amazes me. Sometimes you can see some lily pads, turtles..." she points out.

"Being out in nature helps to lower my blood pressure, believe it or not. I need the exercise. Exercising is good for older women," said Marilyn Elicker from Voorhees, New Jersey.

"I'm at the stage of my life where I want to start doing different things and this helps me Zen out," said Carole Morganti from Medford, New Jersey.

Besides hiking, Patt takes her groups kayaking and paddle boarding. Amidst the woods and the quiet conversations and the hum of nature - magic happens.

"You can sometimes see the stress coming off that person. That is an absolute joy for me, to see that change," she said.

The Pinelands have miles and miles of pristine forest that offer trails, lakes and tranquility. All just a few minutes away.
