Baby celebrates first birthday with Philly-themed food smash

PHILADELPHIA -- Like many moms trying to mark her baby's first birthday, baby Matthew's mom thought about a traditional cake smash. But then said, come on man. We're from South Philly.

So little Matthew's 1st birthday photo session was an epic Philly smash.

The smash included a mashup of our favorite Philly flavors - a smorgasboard of local gems and jawns: Termini Brothers cannolis, Pat's cheesesteaks, Rita's water ice, Tastycakes butterscotch Krimpets and obviously soft pretzels.

The photographer was media-based Jamie Siever. She says the waterice was too cold, the pretzels were too hard and the cheesesteak was wit onions - he probably would have preferred wit-out.

The winner? The cannoli - which was just right.

Apparently dad was also happy because he got to eat the cheeseteak.
