NORTHEAST PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- Speed, and possibly the wet roads, are being blamed for a crash that sent a 12-year-old child to the hospital.

Police say the driver of a Jaguar lost control in the 900 block of Longshore Avenue around 3 a.m. Saturday.

The vehicle slammed into a utility pole, snapping it in half.

The child had to be rescued from the wreckage. He was taken to the hospital in stable condition.

PECO crews were called to the scene to make repairs.

There was no word on if the driver would face any charges.
