Shelter Me: Pup goes from shelter to show biz!

ESSINGTON, Pa. (WPVI) -- In this week's Shelter Me, we meet a scrappy little pup who went from a shelter to show business![br /][br /]When Arden Director Terry Knolen, and Managing Director Amy Murphy, learned that GYPSY was on the Arden Theater Company's Playbill, they knew they would need a dog.[br /][Ads /][br /]"Maybe we could foster him and find someone else to adopt him," Terry said. "That's how he entered the house,"[br /][br /]The couple quickly noticed his star quality.[br /][br /]"There was an air of confidence about this dog," Amy said, "that made it pretty clear he was a star."[br /][br /]"With two dogs already, they weren't sure if they were ready to take on a third.[br /][br /]"We've never had a small dog, no interest in adopting a small dog," Terry said.[br /][br /]But there was something about Andy that not only stole the spotlight, but their hearts[br /][br /]Within in a week of fostering, he was a permanent member of his forever family, and the cast of GYPSY, as the leading doggie, Chowsie.[br /][br /]"Gypsy is about a woman, Momma Rose, who is one of the most famous stage mother's and momma Rose has a dog, Chowsie," said Terry.[br /][Ads /][br /]Andy appears in four scenes as Chowsie, jumping through hoops and meeting his mark.[br /][br /]"And he comes to work every day. It's sort of hilarious, you pull in and he runs upstairs and he runs to his place and he going to work," said Amy.[br /][br /]Andy doesn't let the new found stardom go to his head. At the end of the day he's a regular pup who's just happy to have found his family.[br /][br /]"He has a remarkable sense of, 'Okay I know my role and my role is to take care of everybody,'" said Amy.[br /][br /]Andy was adopted from http://www.pldpaws.org/" TARGET="blank" REL=""]Peace, Love, and Doggie Paws , a foster-based rescue.[br /]"Wonderful dogs that have found themselves in the shelter that need a way out and find them great homes," said foster parent Linda Rosen.[br /][Ads /][br /]To meet more dogs from Peace, Love and Doggie Paws, watch the video above.[br /][br /]If you're interested in any of them, http://www.pldpaws.org/" TARGET="blank" REL=""]visit the Peace, Love, and Doggie Paws website.[br /][br /]----------[br /]Send a breaking news alert[br /]Report a correction or typo[br /]Learn more about the 6abc apps
