2-alarm fire forces residents from Deptford apartment

DEPTFORD, N.J. (WPVI) -- Residents were evacuated after a 2-alarm blaze erupted inside a multi-unit apartment building in Deptford, New Jersey.

The fire broke out around 8:45 a.m. at the Chestnut Lane Apartment Complex on the 1000 block of Delsea Drive.

Firefighters arrived and began dousing the flames. The fire was placed under control around 9:30 a.m.

The American Red Cross is assisting 23 displaced residents.

There were no injuries reported.

The cause of the blaze is under investigation.
