Woman, man hospitalized after car slams into tractor-trailer in Delaware

STANTON, Del. (WPVI) -- A man and a woman are hospitalized after their vehicle crashed into a tractor-trailer in Stanton, Delaware.

It happened around 9:30 p.m. Wednesday in the southbound lanes of Route 7 near the entrance to Delaware Park.

Initial reports indicate that a female driver lost control and struck a tractor-trailer.

Authorities say the 44-year-old woman and her 52-year-old male passenger were pulled from the wreckage and rushed to Christiana Hospital.

Police say the woman is listed in serious condition, the man in critical. Their names have not been released.

There was no immediate word what caused the driver to lose control.

The accident remains under investigation.
