FAIRMOUNT PARK (WPVI) -- Philadelphia police are investigating a two vehicle accident in Fairmount Park that claimed the life of a woman and injured her husband.

Police say it was shortly after 9:00 a.m. Wednesday when 34-year-old Deborah Burnett of the 6600 block of Haverford Avenue crossed over into oncoming traffic while driving her 2009 Toyota.

The vehicle collided with a 2005 Toyota being driven by 43-year-old Alexander Vekker of the 2100 block of Cherry Street.

Alexander and his wife Isabella were taken to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania.

Isablla died from her injuries.

Alexander is in stable condition.

Burnett's condition was not released.

Police say they aren't sure what caused Burnett to cross into oncoming traffic and strike the Vekkers head on.
