CRESCENTVILLE (WPVI) -- Philadelphia police are searching for clues and witnesses of a double shooting that left two people dead.

Right now they don't know who the victims are or why they were targeted. However, sources tell Action News that the crime appears to be drug related.

Investigators dressed head to toe in protective gear searched for clues inside the home on the 500 block of Allengrove Street in the city's Crescentville section.

Police say the house was infested with bugs, but it also was the scene of a double murder.

A woman made the gruesome discovery around 10 a.m. Thursday. Two men were dead inside from multiple gunshot wounds.

Philadelphia Police Chief Inspector Dennis Wilson says, "We know that the 911 caller is the owner of the property and the two males inside, she may be related to.

Neighbor Marie Peterson tells us, "It's scary. I've been here almost 15 years and it makes you want to think twice."

Peterson says she walked by the home last night around 10:00 as she went to work and saw two young men arguing outside. But it's unclear if they are connected to the crime.

Police say the block is an area of heavy drug traffic.

"We do respond to this block a lot. This particular house we didn't have information about narcotics," Wilson said.

Neighbors say they believe there was drug activity at the house.

Peterson says, "Of course there was, because I'd see cars pull up all the time. People going in and their hands like this."

Police say no drug paraphernalia was uncovered.

Most neighbors were tight lipped and police have few leads.

A hammer was found inside and police initially thought one victim may have been killed with it, but it now appears both were shot.

"The block captain has been complaining about stuff but nobody has been doing anything about it," Peterson said.

At this time police have no suspects, but a witness says she saw a man running from the home early Thursday morning.
