2 women robbed at gunpoint in South Philadelphia

SOUTH PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- Police are looking for an suspect who they say stalked and then robbed two women at gunpoint in South Philadelphia earlier this month.

It happened on October 12 at 2 a.m.

The suspect was caught on surveillance stalking the two female victims on the 1000 block of Oregon Avenue.

As the women passed Marvine Street, they were approached from behind by the suspect who forced them into a back alley.

He pointed a handgun at them and demanded they empty their pockets.

One of the victims reached into her back pocket and threw money onto the ground to distract the robber.

She then grabbed the second female and escaped.

No injuries were reported.

The suspect then fled the scene and was last spotted heading west on Oregon Avenue.

He was also caught on surveillance at several places on Oregon Avenue as well as inside a SEPTA subway station located at Broad Street and Oregon Avenue.

Police describe the suspect as a white male, 5'6" tall, 25 to 30 years-old with a thin build and clean shaven. He was wearing a dark colored hooded sweatshirt and baggy jeans.
