CHRISTIANA, Del. (WPVI) -- A school safety patroller received the first Lifesaver of the Year award in the state of Delaware Thursday.

Kylie Moorman is one of only six recipients of the Lifesaver of the Year Award nationwide this year.

The award goes to those who have saved the life of another who was in imminent danger.

Moorman, a 5th grader at Benjamin Banneker Elementary School in Milford, performed the Heimlich maneuver on her friend who was choking.

Seven other AAA school safety patrollers from Delaware, Pennsylvania and Maryland were also recognized.
