CENTER CITY (WPVI) -- A major cleanup effort is happening high in the sky of Philadelphia.

The William Penn statue is being thoroughly cleaned of any pollution and corrosion.

Chopper 6 captured video of crews on scaffolding at work.

The bronze statue which weighs more than 53,000 pounds is cleaned and treated every ten years.

The clean-up and conservation of the statue should be complete by the end of June.
