A woman who was with the minivan as that was happening called a male friend.

Police say that man arrived with a gun and got into a physical altercation with the repo man.

The worker told police he was pistol-whipped by the male friend.

At one point, the worker told police, he heard glass shattering and thought he was being fired upon.

That's when, police say, the repo man then pulled out a gun and fired several times.

The armed 32-year-old man was hit once in the chest and once in the arm.

"It was like rapid fire. Sounded like a firecracker going off, and we looked down and just saw smoke and people screaming and running away from the scene," said witness Mike Young.

Arriving officers rushed the man who had been shot to Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in critical condition. He was pronounced dead a short time later.

The repo man was held for questioning by police.

Police say a dog was also shot and killed by gunfire.

There were numerous shell casings scattered on the ground. More than 20 evidence markers could be seen.

So far there have been no arrests or charges filed.

The investigation into the incident continues.
