Folks out and about enjoying perfect summer weather

PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- A heat wave is expected on Sunday, but Friday night, it was perfect summer weather in the Delaware Valley.

The sounds of summer could be heard in many areas.

The ladies of the Fairmount Park Softball League have been playing on the fields here every Friday for years. Few nights as perfect as this one.

Susan Zawislak said, "Beautiful day in Fairmount Park. Couldn't ask for anything better."

Liz Klakowicz of Levittown said, "Weather's perfect. Not sweating too much. Not too cold. Dogs happy. Good times."

Friends and family watched as the Twisted Sistahs beat the undefeated Misfits.

On this Friday night, however, everyone wins.

In Manayunk, outdoor tables were packed with diners. One couple didn't want to forget this night.

"Just enjoying me and my wife. Newlyweds, one year. Night of love. Night of love," Will Ferebee of Eddystown said.

At Chloe's Corner, folks lined up for a quintessential taste of summer. Andy the dog too.

Action News asked, what's his favorite flavor? "Vanilla. He's a simple guy, Greg Gallo of Roxborough said.

Back at Fairmount, the game ended but a summer of fun and memories is just beginning.

"Summer equals fun and games."

"Summer equals ice cream and swimming at grandma's house."

"You have to absorb every molecule. The grass, the kids' playtime," Kevin West of South Philadelphia said.
