Tractor-trailer crash shuts down NB Pa. Turnpike Extension for hours

A crash on the Northeast Extension Monday afternoon continued to cause backups for drivers into the evening rush between Lansdale and Quakertown.

It happened before 12:40 p.m. in the northbound lanes between the Lansdale and Quakertown exits in Milford Township.

A box truck spilled its load when it collided with a tractor trailer.

First responders had to rescue the truck driver who was trapped in the cab.

Northbound lanes of the highway remain closed as crews work to clear the accident scene.
