Coping with the heat in Center City and beyond

PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- The official start of summer is still a week away, but it sure didn't feel like it Tuesday across the tri-state area.

Action News reporter Walter Perez found plenty of people trying to enjoy their time outside, despite the extreme temperatures.

Meanwhile, experts remind you to drink plenty of water and take frequent breaks in the shade if you have to be outside.

If you're staying indoors, be sure to have those air conditioners running.

If you don't have A/C, be sure to open some windows and use fans.
