PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- Philadelphia Police say a group of people enjoying a late-night bite to eat in Germantown suddenly found themselves dodging bullets.

Gunfire erupted at 11:30 p.m. Thursday in front of a Chinese takeout restaurant in the 5000 block of Germantown Avenue.

Police say a gunman fired multiple shots at point blank range at a 22-year-old man, forcing 10 bystanders to run for cover.

None of those bystanders were hit.

The victim was hit six times. He is hospitalized in critical but stable condition.

The gunman was described as a black male in his 20's wearing dark clothes, black hooded sweatshirt, rubber gloves and a mask.

Police are reviewing surveillance video as they work to track down the shooter.
