OLD CITY (WPVI) -- An underground fire shut down a stretch of 5th Street in the Old City section of Philadelphia Monday night.

The road remained blocked off between Walnut and Chestnut streets.

Firefighters were first called at 7:30 p.m. when smoke was seen coming from a manhole.

Officials don't know how long it'll be before they can safely re-open to traffic.
