Man found fatally shot in Salvation Army parking lot in West Philadelphia

WEST PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- Police are investigating a gruesome discovery in the parking lot of a Salvation Army in West Philadelphia.

Police found a 39-year old man who had been shot in the head.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police believe the shooting, which happened in the 5500 block of Market Street, took place shortly before 2 a.m. Friday.

They don't think the victim was robbed, so they're trying to figure out a motive.

Investigators are reviewing video from nearby surveillance cameras in an effort to develop a description of the shooter.
