Battle of the Badges blood drive

OCEAN CITY, N.J. (WPVI) -- First responders in South Jersey are asking residents to roll up their sleeves and help them save lives.

Police and fire departments from Ocean City, New Jersey, are teaming up with the American Red Cross for their first-ever Battle of the Badges blood drive.

The event kicked off Tuesday at Saint John Lutheran Church on Central Avenue.

The friendly competition encourages community members to join their local fire and police departments to donate blood.

The winning department will earn a plaque and of course bragging rights.
