Drenching storms hit South Jersey
BRIDGETON, N.J. (WPVI) -- A fast-moving storm left its mark in South Jersey Friday.
"It was really calm and then it got crazy out of nowhere," Madison Cresci of Hopewell, New Jersey said.
In Sea Isle City, torrential rains turned streets into rivers.
Folks waded nearly knee deep.
One person on a paddle boarder on Central Avenue had the right idea.
But the guys in one car didn't. They got stranded in the flooding and had to be pushed out.
But the rising waters were no obstacle for a pizza delivery guy.
Further west, in Millville, strong winds knocked over a tree on South 2nd Street, taking down power lines and blocking a portion of the road for hours.
Nearby, the 2 plus inches of rain caused much of Emily Drive to flood. The front yards of several homes weren't spared either.
Meanwhile, in Bridgeton, crews worked late clearing a mudslide after part of North Pearl Street flooded.
A viewer photo shows cars that became submerged. Action News was told the drivers got out okay, but the cars had to be towed.
"We all went down to look and there was 3 cars stuck in 5 feet of water all the way up to the windows. It was crazy,'' Cresci said.
