PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- Baby showers are a way to celebrate a mom-to-be and get the family stocked up on essentials for the new addition.

If you've ever wondered what to give as a guest or what to register for as the expectant parents, one toddler mom is breaking down and getting real.

Toni Hammer, a self proclaimed woman in her 30s and a mom of two toddlers tells us in her opinions what moms really need in a blog on Scary Mommy called: No More Baby Blankets: A Real Life Baby Shower Guide.

She says these things may seem pretty practical and maybe a little boring but they are absolutely necessities.

First, batteries. And not just a small back of AA, but the BIG box of all different kinds, from AAA to D. Anything from toys to swings need them and she says you can never have enough in stock.

She also says another necessity is a box of screwdrivers and diapers in all sizes.

Another suggestion? Three months of a housecleaning service! Hammer says everything is overwhelming to a new mom, so why not give her a break.

You could also go for a spa gift certificate to give the new parents a break and a little relaxation.

Next, forget the newborn onesies, Hammer says consider size 3T clothes, because she says, when the little baby becomes a big kid, no one's buying them a new wardrobe. Also, shopping with a toddler is not that relaxing.

And finally, consider coffee, beer, and booze. Because, she says - motherhood.
