BUSTLETON (WPVI) -- An 89-year-old woman has died after being hit by a car in the Bustleton section of Philadelphia.

It happened around 2:10 p.m. Thursday near the intersection of Grant Avenue and Krewstown Road.

Police say a 62-year-old woman driving a Toyota lost control and struck two other vehicles traveling in the same direction on Grant.

The driver then continued onto the sidewalk and struck the pedestrian before coming to a complete stop.

The driver remained at the scene for police.

The 89-year-old was taken to the hospital in criticial condition, but later died.

Chopper 6 over the scene showed a damaged vehicle and what appeared to be pieces of a fence on a nearby lawn.

The investigation is ongoing.
