Motorcyclist killed in Kelly Drive crash identified

Philadelphia police have identified the motorcyclist who died in a crash on Kelly Drive in Fairmount Park.

43-year-old George James was from the 6400 block of Ross Street in Philadelphia.

The accident happened shortly before 9 p.m. Wednesday near Brewery Hill Drive.

Police say a 2014 BMW sedan hit James' 2005 Suzuki motorcycle.

James was thrown from the bike and landed on a grassy area.

He was rushed in critical condition to Hahnemann University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead a short time later.



The driver of the BMW remained at the scene and was cooperating with police.

There was no immediate word if any charges will be filed.

Kelly Drive was shut down for several hours as police investigated.
