BROOKHAVEN, Pa. (WPVI) -- A theft that lead to a hit-and-run in Delaware County Thursday afternoon, landed one man in a local hospital.

It happened just after 3 p.m. on the 4900 block of Jackson Drive in Brookhaven.

Police say the incident began when the suspect attempted to steal a backpack leaf blower from a landscaping crew.

The landscaper spotted the thief, who had just jumped into a gray or silver Dodge Avenger.

The landscaper jumped in front of the car, only to have the thief drive off, carrying the landscaper roughly 100 feet on the hood before the worker was dislodged.

The driver kept going and remains at large.

The injured worker was transported to Crozer Chester Medical Center for care of non-life threatening injuries.
