Officer hurt, suspect arrested in Wilmington drug bust

A Wilmington police officer was injured and a man arrested following a suspicious activity complaint.

Police responded to the 300 block of East 23rd Street around 11:30 p.m. Thursday.

There they found 25-year-old Rydell Mills.

Officials say Mills tried to run away. After a brief struggle he was placed under arrest.

Officers found what appeared to be crack cocaine and heroin at the scene.

Mills faces several drug-related charges.

Mills and one of the responding officers were both treated for minor injuries at an area hospital.
