A driver is dead after his car slammed into a pickup truck on a Bucks County road and then burst into flames.

The incident occurred just after 2 a.m. Saturday at the intersection of Bristol Oxford Valley Road and Red Rose Way in Middletown.

Police say the car, without headlights on, plowed into the pickup truck before bursting into flames.

The collision tore off the back of the truck, sending the rear axle flying 200 feet.

The truck's tailgate ended up in a backyard swimming pool.

Resident Jeremy Garcia said, "We usually have parties that last to around 2 a.m. Tonight wasn't one of those nights, luckily. We have a wheel in the back yard and a tailgate in the back pool."

The driver of the pickup truck was treated for minor injuries.
