PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- It was the first total solar eclipse to sweep the U.S. coast to coast in nearly a century.

People across the country and right in our region gathered to watch the moon cross into the path of the sun.

The last total solar eclipse in the U.S. was in 1979, but it only passed through a small part of the west. The last coast to coast was back in 1918.

And the show in the sky Monday was really cool.

Despite the clouds, the Action Cam captured time-lapse video of the eclipse from the Belmont Plateau.

It only took about two minutes to go from light to dark and back to light again.
