NORTH PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- It's move-in day at Temple University. That means one thing: school is about to start.

A little over 5,000 freshmen and 2,400 transfer students are set to join Temple for the 2017-18 academic year.

"We have a lot of events set up on campus. This campus will be alive for the next several days as we get students acclimated, meeting one another, socially engaged and hopefully, as we get toward the weekend, also prepared to study a little bit, as well. So they can prepare hopefully to have the best time of their life. That is what this is all about," T.J. Logan, Associate VP for Student Affairs, said.

Class of 2021 is arriving to campus, eager to experience the college life.

Students from 60 countries and 45 states are moving into the 27-story Morgan Residence Hall and Dining Complex which is the university's newest and largest residence hall.

And they are ready.

"Packing, the worse thing ever, would not recommended it. But it was so fun. I was so excited to move in. I love my roommate. Temple is the best school ever, come on," Grace Lukasevics of Northeast Philadelphia said.

"I am so excited and pumped for the next year. I am looking forward to meeting new friends and learning new things about getting freedom and moving on in life," Matthew Clifford of Wyndmoor, Pa. said.

It's an annual tradition with family friends and relatives helping the newest Owls unpack and settle in to their new home.

Once the unpacking is done, then comes the goodbyes and the beginning of a new chapter for these students.

Parents are just as nervous and excited.

"We are ready. He's ready. We are ready. It's time," Johnathan Weinhold of Wyndmoor, Pa. said.

"It is very exciting. I am very proud of her. I'm very nervous that I can't wake up at night and see her in her bed, that's what is going to be the hardest for me," Jennifer Buck of Northeast Philadelphia said.
