Dozens of bags of fentanyl found at Drexel Hill school

UPPER DARBY, Pa. (WPVI) -- More than two dozen bags of the deadly opioid fentanyl were found in the parking lot of an elementary school Delaware County.

The bags were found on Thursday by parents waiting outside Saint Bernadette's in Drexel Hill for their children.

On Friday Upper Darby police released pictures of the 29 plastic bags of fentanyl, found packaged for sale.

Fentanyl is a deadly opioid derivative 50 to 100 times more powerful than heroin.

Police believe it was dropped at the school accidentally.

"When you look at where it was found, and you look at the circumstances in which it was found, in my opinion based on my experience I believe it was probably a parent of one of the children, or a guardian of one of the children who dropped it," said Police Superintendent Michael Chitwood.

Chitwood emphasized that the school immediately called police.

The drug itself is extremely dangerous if it is inhaled for even handled.

This stash was locked tight in baggies.

The police say they are now focusing on a prime suspect in this case.
