Police release new surveillance video of alleged suspects in Parkside shooting

Philadelphia police continue their search for the suspects, who put a disabled man in the hospital with a bullet wound to the stomach.

The victim remains in the ICU, and police are making another plea to the public for help to identify the culprits.

New video from a corner store shows a shooter and her accomplice sizing up, then stalking a disabled 60-year-old man minutes before the female shot him in the stomach.

The accomplice even holds the door for the victim, Derrick Hinton, before he went to the ATM to take out cash.

The shooting happened Friday, September 1 after 1:30 a.m. in the 1200 block of north 53rd street in Philadelphia's Parkside section.

Philadelphia Police Lt. John Walker said, "This female pulls out the gun aggressively, and she just shoots him."

Police previously released a surveillance video taken by residential cameras hoping for leads showing the duo following the victim and the female pulling a gun.

The new images inside the store give a better look at the two offenders.

"It is kind of odd to have males and females doing robberies, especially in this age group. It's rare to have a female with the gun who initiates the robbery," Lt. Walker said.

Police believe the suspects are only between sixteen and twenty-years-old.

And they think they live in the neighborhood.

Gwen Dolyn of West Philadelphia said, "There's a real tragedy, something like that, so close to home."

Friends of Hinton say they are sickened the disabled man was targeted.

The new video shows how Hinton had difficulty walking.

Police are investigating recent armed robberies to see if they are linked.

Police say the two are brazen and dangerous. Investigators believe robbing Hinton of his cash was the motive, but in the end they left the money behind.

"Instead of just doing the robbery, clearly you have a 60-year-old man, who couldn't defend himself anyway...They decided to use the gun immediately and try to do the robbery second," Lt. Walker said.
