Drexel Hill teen to be spotlighted as part of National Down Syndrome Society celebration

A Delaware County teenager is showing the world that there are no limits.

14- year-old Aidan Milligan plays percussion in the Haverford High School band. While this may seem like an exciting enough start to his freshman year, Aidan is also about to become a bit of a star, in one of the most iconic spots in the country.

The Drexel Hill native is appearing on the bright lights of Broadway this weekend, as part of the National Down Syndrome Society's annual presentation in Times Square.

Organizers said the idea is to celebrate the milestones and achievements of people with Down syndrome.

The picture of Aidan that will be featured was taken at a performance during his days back at Haverford Middle School. The Milligans said they submitted that particular photo because it depicts something Aidan truly loves. The photo was chosen from more than 2,000 entries.

It's all part of the annual Buddy Walk, something the Milligans have attended before.

"We went about eleven years ago when Aidan was very young and it was really helpful to us to see people at various stages who had Down Syndrome," said Mark Milligan, Aidan's dad. "And now we're coming back, and we're really looking forward to it."

The Milligans said knowing their son's photo will be part of the day is pretty humbling.
