NORTH PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- A ribbon cutting marked a banner day in North Philadelphia's tough Sharswood neighborhood.

The Philadelphia Housing Authority is investing 15 million dollars in renovations to Vaux Big Picture High School.

The P.H.A. gets most of its funding from the HUD, on the federal level.

HUD secretary Ben Carson, on hand today, commended what he called the "community investment" in education.
