CHELTENHAM TWP., Pa. -- A $4,000 piece of equipment belonging to the Cheltenham Police Department has been destroyed.

Someone knocked down a brand new radar speed sign, only a week after it was put in place on a utility pole on Greenwood Avenue.

Police believe it was hit by a passing truck. The sign then fell and landed on the road.

Other vehicles proceeded to run it over, without notifying police.

"It's of substantial enough size that you would definitely know you were hitting something on the highway," said Cheltenham Police Sgt. Jesse Tyler. "It's just surprising to us that not one person stopped or called to even inquire about it."

The department hopes to identify the truck driver responsible for the damage, and they are urging anyone who may have witnessed the incident to come forward.
