Rifle-point robberies in Northeast Philadelphia result in several arrests

NORTHEAST PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- Two armed robberies in Northeast Philadelphia has led several arrests. Police are working to determine if the two incidents are related.

The first robbery happened around 12 a.m. Friday on the 6400 block of Bustleton Avenue in Northeast Philadelphia.

Police say two men armed with rifles robbed a group of people and ran off with cash and cell phones.

Witnesses told police the suspects were driving a white Dodge Challenger or Charger.

At the time, police were already investigating a similar robbery that happened less than an hour earlier in the 3200 block of Woodhaven Road.

The man in that incident called police and said he was robbed.

His description of the car and suspects were similar to the second incident. But by the time police arrived on scene he'd already left.

Then, at around 1:30 a.m. Friday, police stopped a white Dodge Charger along the 7000 block of Oxford Avenue, about a mile away from the second crime scene.

Four men were arrested. Two of them were positively identified by the first victim.

Police also recovered a cell phone, cash, a handgun and rifle.

An investigation into both incidents continues.
