NORTH PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- Philadelphia Police are investigating a home invasion that took place in the Olney section of the city early Tuesday morning.

Police said a 57-year-old woman was sexually assaulted after a man forced his way into her home on the 5800 block of N. Marshall Street around 6:45 a.m.

According to police, the woman went outside to look around after hearing a loud noise. Police said that is when an unknown man forced his way into her home, pointed a gun to her head and told her "Don't make a sound."

According to police, the man then took the victim to an upstairs bedroom and sexually assaulted her before taking two wallets containing cash and various credit cards, her smart phone and the keys to her car.

The man then allegedly left the home and attempted to get into her car, but his plan was foiled by the woman's next-door neighbor.

Police said a struggle ensued between the man and the neighbor, and the man pulled the handgun from the waist of his pants and pointed it at the neighbor.

According to officials, the neighbor smacked the gun from the man's hands and following a brief struggle was able to pick the handgun up off of the ground.

The man then ran away.

Police said the suspect is described as a black male in his mid 30's, approximately 6' tall with a goatee. He was last seen wearing a black hooded sweatshirt with the word "FRESH" printed in white lettering on the back. He was also wearing black pants and black shoes with a red shirt and black gloves.

At this time no arrest has been made.

The Philadelphia Police Department's Special Victims Unit is investigating the incident.
