President Trump speaks on possiblitiy of running against Oprah on January 9, 2018.

President Donald Trump has commented on Oprah Winfrey's potential presidential campaign in 2020.

When President Trump was asked Tuesday by ABC News Chief White House Correspondent Jon Karl if he can defeat Oprah in a possible upcoming presidential election, he responded, "Yeah, I'll beat Oprah."

The president continued, "Oprah would be a lot of fun. I know her very well. You know, I did one of her last shows. She had Donald Trump, this is before politics. Her last week and she had Donald Trump and my family, it was very nice."

President Trump finished his response, "No, I like Oprah. I don't think she's going to run. I don't think she's going to run. I know her very well."

The presidential buzz around Winfrey follows her impassioned call for "a brighter morning even in our darkest nights" at the Golden Globes on Sunday night in a speech that left some viewers contemplating the idea of the Democratic Party embracing a celebrity candidate of its own to challenge President Donald Trump in 2020. Trump, of course, was little more than a businessman-turned-reality-television-star before his extraordinary political rise.
