Free smoke alarms to prevent tragedy

WEST PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- Firefighters were out in West Philadelphia, helping residents install smoke alarms.

Members of the red cross joined them on the 5300 block of Race Street.

Two weeks ago, someone died in a house fire on that block.

Crews went door to door talking about fire safety and installing the alarms for free.
