POWELTON (WPVI) -- The Philadelphia School District will expand a program designed to boost reading and writing skills.
The announcement came Tuesday at Alain Locke Elementary in Powelton.
The city's early literacy program is being extended to eleven additional schools next year.
It calls for new technology to be added to dozens of classrooms to assist with reading proficiency.
The goal is to have all students reading on or above grade level by age 8.
