Tacony-Palmyra Bridge reopens after hit by ship. Jeannette Reyes reports during Action News Mornings on April 5, 2018.

DELAWARE RIVER (WPVI) -- The Tacony-Palmyra Bridge has reopened after being shut down to vehicular traffic for nearly four hours.

The Burlington County Bridge Commission says a ship struck the fender system of the bridge just after 11 p.m. Wednesday.

The fender system protects the piers of the bridge.

Engineers inspected the bridge for any potential damage, but reopened it at 3:30 a.m. Thursday.
