PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- Premature babies have a greater chance of developing ADHD, or attention deficit hyperactivity disorder.

A new study, published in JAMA Pediatrics, found that being born a month early raises the risk and we don't know why but it's particularly true for girls.

The researchers believe ADHD is caused by inflammation from under-developed organs.

About 1 in 10 babies in the US is born before 37 weeks.
