PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- The Philadelphia Police Academy's newest graduating class is ready to hit the streets.

Police cadet class number 369, a small class of 39, graduated Friday after eight months in the academy.

This class is a diverse group ready to go during these days of anger about police activity in Ferguson, New York and several other cities.

Police Commissioner Charles Ramsey's says the demonstrators, most of them, are not anti-cop.

"People aren't opposed to policing just bad policing. As long as they conduct themselves properly, respect people and provide the best service they possibly can, they'll be just fine," said Commissioner Ramsey.

The class valedictorian believes their training will help when they hit the street.

"There really is no reason for excessive force. I'd have to agree with them, it cannot be tolerated," said Ofc. Robert Zubriski.

Rookie Emmanuel Folly doubles as a prize fighter with a 4-0 record and with three knockouts.

"I come from an area where you see a lot of violence and drug activity. I want to be a positive influence in my city," said Ofc. Folly.

For some here, it runs in the family. Rookie William Kolb is following in his father's footsteps.

"It was a long eight months. I'm very excited, very happy, I just can't wait to start my career," said Ofc. Kolb.

For new officer Elauda Seawright-Grisson, this is the start of a career she has long wanted.

"I'm just looking forward to serving the community. That has been my aspiration since growing up, I actually grew up in this area," said Ofc. Seawright-Grisson.

Class 369 will report for duty and hit the streets bright and early on Monday morning. They will be assigned to the 22nd and 25th districts - two of the busiest in Philadelphia.
